Thai has five tones.
Learn to hear every one.

A small, honest Thai course for beginners, built the way Thai is taught in a language school: romanisation with tone marks first, Thai script alongside, short phrases you can actually use — and a lot of repetition.

How it teaches

A classroom in your pocket

No mascots, no hearts, no streak anxiety. Just the handout, the drill and the flashcards — the three things that actually work in a language school.

📄

Lessons like handouts

Each lesson is a real handout: the words with translations, the phrases with audio, and the rules explained in plain words.

🧩

Ten-exercise trainings

Say it in Thai, tell what it means, or reply to a line of dialogue. You build every answer from word tiles, drawn fresh from a pool each time.

🙏

Polite the way you are

Your name and your gender go into the phrases, so you practise the particles you will really use: khráp, khâ or khá.

🃏

Flashcards that adapt

90 starter words in categories, practised with spaced repetition. Cards you miss come back sooner; cards you know step out of the way.

⌨️

Your own cards

Type the pronunciation on a keyboard with all five tones and the app suggests the Thai spelling from a 62,000-word dictionary — or type the Thai and get the tones worked out.

🎙️

Your own voice

Audio for every word and phrase, syllable by syllable, and ten spoken examples per word. Record yourself for any card and choose which voice plays.

📚

Rules by topic

Every rule from every lesson gathered on one screen, starting with a guide to reading the pronunciation.

🔤

Beginner or Advanced

Start with the romanisation and switch to Thai script when you are ready. The lessons and the trainer follow.

📈

Honest statistics

See what you have learned and what is due today. A daily reminder if you want one — and only if you want one.

Why you'll cry

Same sound. Five words.

Say “may” in the wrong tone and new silk turns into burnt wood. In Cry in Thai every tone has its own colour, so you see it before you hear it.

Where the tone comes from

Thai spelling tells you the tone — if you know how to read it. Every syllable in the app is taken apart: consonant class, live or dead syllable, tone mark, and the tone that comes out of it.

Tap a syllable to hear it on its own, then the whole word, then yourself. The explanations come in your language.
